Ready to start exercising at home? Congrats! Let’s get started.
Home work outs are easier than you think and VERY cost effective for getting the results you want. I have been exercising at home for years and I can give you some helpful tips to be successful. Here is how you get going.
Identify your workout space. Turning a current living space into multi purpose room is a great way to begin. The best part of creating your home workout space is that you can make it whatever you want. Once you have chosen a safe area (free of clutter, room for movement in all directions, and adequate flooring) there are just 3 simple tips I recommend.
- Choose your workout method. Determine if you are going to use videos, written workout plans, or an exercise app. This is important, especially when you first get started so each workout has direction and purpose. Preparing the exercise plan in advance maximizes time and is key to meeting your fitness and workout goals.
- Start with basic exercise equipment. It is overwhelming to consider all the options available for your home workouts. I suggest starting with a few inexpensive items:
Floor Mat $10
Jump Rope $4
Loop Bands $10
Stability Ball $10
For less than $50 total you can have the tools to work your entire body. These items can be found in stores like Target, Walmart, Dicks Sporting Goods, and similar stores in your area.
- Dress for workout success. Ensure that you are dressed to maximize your movement and have the proper support. Here are the basics of what to wear:
Well fitting shoes and socks
Supportive sports or active wear bra
Comfortable shirt (or tank top) and shorts (or sweatpants)
Add in a bottle of water and you are set to get going. Home workouts offer flexibility and privacy while supporting a healthier way of life. Be willing to change the way you think about your workout space. You are one person trying to change your body your way on your own time. The space you create for your needs will be perfect!
